You might not know the name, but the Vendée is one of France’s most popular regions for camping holidays. The Vendee, on the west coast south of the Loire River, is one of France’s sunniest regions and blessed with miles of sandy beaches, so it’s not hard to spot the attraction for families.

Another big plus is the ease of access for families travelling by car from the ferry ports at St Malo, Caen and Cherbourg, with drives times for around four hours.

The salt marshes

The salt marshes of Noirmoutier are a truly unique wonder. From the 5th century, the Benedictine monks transformed the wet marshes of the island into salt marshes.

Each year, over 100 workers extract the white gold from the sea water, with ancestral traditional processes and gestures. This salt, 100% natural, is harvested by hand.
Historial de la Vendee

The Historial de la Vendee is a museum illustrating the history of this region. You'll find it in Lucs-sur-Boulogne, In addition to its impressive nature space, the museum retraces the Vendee timeline from prehistoric times to the present day. A fun and educational activity for the whole family.

For a day full of action, it's happening at Puy du Fou! The amusement park is one of the most famous in France and a stone's throw from our Le Bois Dormant campsite. The theme is the Middle Ages and spectacular shows tell the story. Don't miss the famous night show, the Cinéscénie. Lights, music, special effects...
The Vendée Corniche

Enjoy a 3km ride between sea air, rocky coasts and wild vegetation. On foot or by bike, a pretty path will take you to the Devil's Hole where you can observe its bubbling water. According to the legend, looking further along you'll see five rocks which contain the prison of the devil...
Sables d’Olonne

Pendant vos vacances dans notre camping Le Bois Masson, prévoyez un jour pour visiter les célèbres sables d’Olonne. Vous pourrez flâner dans les petites rues, observer les murs des maisons recouverts de coquillages, vous promener vers l’île Penotte et apprécier une balade à la plage.

During your holidays at our Le Bois Masson campsite, plan a day to visit the famous Sables D'Olonne. You can stroll through the small streets, observe the walls of the houses covered with shells, head to Penotte Island and enjoy a walk on the beach.

The Noirmoutier peninsula

Also called “the island of mimosas”, it's a real spectacle for nature lovers. It's accessible by taking the Noirmoutier bridge or by the Passage du Gois. Once there, you can go to the edge of the island to discover the Bois de la Chaise, and collect shells, you can also visit the Polder de Sébastopol nature reserve, local fishermen's houses...

Sallertaine

À seulement 15 minutes de nos campings de Saint-Jean-de-Monts se trouve Sallertaine, une petite merveille qui rassemble les 4 éléments. Au cœur du Marais Breton Vendéen, vous serez entourés de nature. Dégustation de produits locaux, balades en barque ou à vélo, découverte de la ferronnerie… Une bouffée d’air frais hors du temps et facilement accessible !

Just 15 mins from our campsites in Saint-Jean-de-Monts is Sallertaine, is a little wonder. Here you can tasting local products, go on a boat or bike ride, discover Ironwork displays... It's a breath of fresh air and easily accessible!

L’île d’Yeu

Here, nature takes back its rights. Rocks overhang the sea, waves throw themselves against them and diverse fauna is everywhere to see. On the other side of the island, the terrain is sandy, perfect for hiking to visit Fort de Pierre Levée, the port and the castle.
