Take a breath of fresh air
Live life in the slow lane and take a leisurely stroll or bike ride (you can hire a bike on our campsite or in the town) along the banks of the famous river. If you're looking to tire out your little ones, climb up the the relatively steep steps to the Jardins de l'Evêché and admire its famous rose garden as well as the views it offers over the town.
Hidden Gems
Live like a royal for the day - or at least 25 minutes - and see Blois from a horse drawn carriage. There are several companies that offer this from the Chateau square. Then you can see the town from another angle by taking a riverboat tour on the traditional wooden boat known as a futreau. After all that, why not put your feet up and try some of the local wines? Most famous for its Sancerre and crisp Sauvignan Blancs you'll be spoilt for choice.
Must see
No trip to Blois is complete without a visit to its majestic Chateau Royal. Boasting 564 ooms and 35,000 works of art it combines architectural styles from the 13th to the 17th centuries. The castle is hugely important in French history, having housed ten queens and seven kings. It is also famous for the assassination of the Duke of Guise.
If you are in the region in July or August, make sure you keep an eye out for the Festival des Lyres, which offers a varied and interesting programme of free concerts, plays and fireworks.
